This policy covers the iOS apps Laterna and HowMuch? Lens
(“the Apps”), developed by Torsten Büchner.
1. Laterna
Laterna is a client for PhotoPrism, a self-hosted photo library that you
run on a server of your own choosing.
No data collection. Laterna does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal
data. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking of any kind.
Your server, your photos. Photos and videos stay on your PhotoPrism server.
Laterna only connects to the server URL you enter, using the credentials you provide.
That traffic goes directly between your device and your server.
On-device storage only. The server URL, an optional account name, and an
access token are stored locally on your device (in the app's sandbox, including the iOS
keychain). Session caches (image previews) are stored locally and can be cleared at any time
by clearing the app's cache or reinstalling the app.
Camera/media permissions. Where the app offers downloads or sharing, it uses
the standard iOS pickers/save APIs; it does not read your photo library in the background.
2. HowMuch? Lens
HowMuch? Lens scans price tags with the camera and converts prices into another currency.
Everything happens on your device. Text recognition (OCR) runs fully
on-device. Camera images are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted by the app.
Currency rates. To convert prices, the app requests current exchange rates
from the free Frankfurter API (frankfurter.dev). This
request contains no personal data — at most your IP address, as with any internet request.
In-app purchase. The optional one-time “lens_unlock” purchase is processed
entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not see your name, payment details, or receipt
contents; the unlock entitlement is stored locally on your device.
No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. The app has no user accounts and
contains no analytics or advertising SDKs.
3. Children
Neither app is directed at children, and neither collects data from anyone.
4. Changes to this policy
If the apps' privacy-relevant behaviour changes, this page will be updated and the date above
adjusted.
5. Contact
If you have any questions, you can reach us through the support channel listed on the apps'
App Store pages.
Datenschutzerklärung
Stand: 29. September 2026
Diese Erklärung betrifft die iOS-Apps Laterna und HowMuch? Lens
(„die Apps“), entwickelt von Torsten Büchner.
1. Laterna
Server deiner Wahl.
Keine Datenerhebung. Laterna erhebt, überträgt und verkauft keine
personenbezogenen Daten. Es gibt keine Analyse-, Werbe- oder Tracking-SDKs.
Dein Server, deine Fotos. Fotos und Videos bleiben auf deinem
PhotoPrism-Server.
Keine Konten, keine Analyse, kein Tracking.
3. Kinder
